Disaster day of crisis

This has been one hell of a day!

I find that games that appeal to me tend to be the ones that no one really hears of or plays. I don't know why I like them but most of them are original and in a lot of cases a complete joy to play. This is in fact the case with disaster day of crisis. Though some people may knock it back it is in all a well rounded a fun game.
This game is about someone getting kidnapped by a military group and you having to go and find them in a cat and mouse situation. The only thing is that after an earthquake the whole town that they live in is turned to a pile of ash leaving people injured and dead and as well as trying to get Lisa back you have to help them. Little do you know that the earthquake is the least of your worries in this game as you also have to face up against other natural disasters such as Tsunamis, Volcano eruptions, hurricanes and floods!

The story
At the beginning of the story you have to survive a volcano eruption. This is real a tutorial as to how the game works and really helps you get used to some of the controls you have to use. It is quite heartbreaking as the main character Ray’s best friend ends up falling in the lava after the best attempts to save his life by Ray himself failed.
Just before he dies he asks Ray to look after his younger sister and this is where the real story kicks in.
A few years after Ray is called in to see the police who tell him the person he was told to protect (Lisa) had been stolen by a so called out of action military group called SURGE under the leader of there general. They have kidnapped her to be able to tell when the Earthquake that is about to strike is going to happen as she is a geologist’s assistant.
Once the Earth quake happens you have to deal with all the casualties and help people out of building or bandage broken legs etc in mini games that are activated when talking to a person with a yellow symbol above there head. The good thing is the mini games don’t drag on and really just add to the experience.
Controls/how is it played?
In the most parts of the game you have free range over the area you are in although you still have to stay on a straight path you can meander around the area that isn’t clearly blocked by buildings. All you have to do is move using the analog stick and to break things you wave the wii remote up and down in a pounding motion. Also to interact with stuff you have to use the A button.
The gunning sections where you have to fight members of SURGE are really only light gun shooting things like house of the dead or Ghost squad and are really simple. All you do is aim at the person you want to shoot and press B and you reload by shaking the remote. Although you do need to cover yourself and hide which is done simply by pressing Z. This is a good tactic as when they shoot you hide and when they have to reload you fire at them and kill them.
There are some cars sections in the game which require you to take the numchuck of the remote and turn the remote on its side as in other car games like Mario kart or excite truck on wii. You press 2 to accelerate and press to 1 to brake/reverse. Turning is done by tilting the wii remote the way you want to go. The only bad thing about the car sections is there aren’t very many of them and they don’t really last very long which is disappointing as they work really well with the game.
The mini games are all played in different ways from putting the remote on its side and pushing down to help some one breathe again to, swinging the remote in time with another persons reach to try and pull them to safety before they fall of a ledge. Also you have to sometimes do interactive cut scenes which involve you doing the prompted on screen action to run away or not get killed.
Is it fun?
This game has amazing voice acting from a great cast (no famous voices though) and the music is atmospheric and goes perfectly with the game. It also has quite a funny sense of humour and it is quite violent which was quite shocking as I was not expecting it from what I had heard about it.
Replay value
There is plenty to do after the game is completed. The first thing you can do is go and do all the shooting ranges which require quite a lot of skill and a steady hand in some parts. These also allow you to unlock new guns like the crossbow. Some of these guns are awesome but some are bad. Also you can buy and upgrade all the guns that aren’t unlock able and collect some special guns like Gregory’s assault rifle which is an awesome gun. Upgrading requires some serious money meaning you need to go back and get more money. You also can upgrade you own strength and stamina using skill points (which is what you get for rescuing people. That takes a long time to do.
You also need to go back to most levels and collect the newly added staminas campaign signs that are now doted around each level when you complete the game. Completing on all the difficulties is a challenge especially seeming as one you unlock half way through the title side of the game is a real challenge. Finally are the titles which you have to get. These you get from doing things like rescuing 100 people or eating 100 pieces of fruit and they are worth looking into.
These things really add to the games life span and really keep you going for hours after you complete the game.
Overall
This is an amazing with an amazing story with some great plot twists about midway through and is really fun to play and all the characters are full of humour and personality. Everything works perfectly and it is a shame when it ends.
+Great plot and twists
+It is quite funny
+Loads to do
+It is a fun game
-There aren’t enough driving sections sadly
94% a great game that people real need to give a chance to truly enjoy its excellence

Animal Crossing DS Review

Animal Crossing is a Game with a lot of playability, options and customisation.
I would reccomend the Wii version if you have the money and if you want a better online and offline experience which comes out December 5th 2008.

A fantastic turn-based strategy that hasn’t changed much has made things a lot more balanced, has cool new features and not forgetting the online multiplayer.

Links Crossbow Training

A fun yet short-lived shooter. It doesn’t quite live up to price and the graphics were taken straight from Twilight princess, lazy.

A good selection of games in a bargain package, but more appealing to elderly audience and the online multiplayer isn’t very well organized.
