Super mario galaxy ![]() Plumbers in space The day it was released I was lucky enough to be able to get a copy of super mario galaxy in a little gaming shop in a nearby town. I was really close to having to wait for it as in most places it had sold out gue to all the hype about how good it was going to be. The first time this game was ever talked about it was always going to be a big deal when it finally came out and you would have to be an idiot not to be able to predict something like that. Story This is a 3-D game starring everyones favourite plumber going into space. Sounds a bit odd doesn't it. Well this is made in the same style of super mario 64. These two are very similar as in this one as in the first one you have to go around collecting stars which are then used to access new areas and so on. The only difference between this one and 64 is that this uses a space station as its setting and has you flying off in all various directions to other planets and galaxies in search of stars. The story is that once every 100 years there is a star passing overhead and mario is invited to Princess peach's castle to come and see it for himself. Just as he is about to arrive bowser comes and steals the castle taking peach and mario with him. Eventually in space mario gets found and blasted into space where he meets a strange girl called rosalina who has had all her starship energy drained and promises to help track peach down if mario can restore power to the station. And here is the 120 stars part. Youdon't need to collect them all as at about 60 or so you are able to go and beat bowser but those who are real perfectionists may find it essential to go and get them all. It is a good story that will keep you hooked and take up hours of your life and with extras like the storybook which gives insite into what can only be seen as rosalina's heritage in tyhe libary. Also Luigi appears about half way through offering help to Mario by finding special stars. Controls/Does it work The controls are pretty simple as all you have to do move using the analog stick press a to jump and spin the remote to do a twirl attack which stuns enemies allowing you to walk into them and kill them. It all works really well and there are no faults that i have ever had which can only be a good thing. Multiplayer There is a 2 player mode which is more of an assit mode where the other remote acts as a hand that can fire star bits or pick up enemies and throw them away from the player. They caould also be a pain in the back and help enemies attack you. That is all in the way of any multiplayer options unless you give each other who can get the best score at ray surfing 101. Replay There is plenty to do after you complete killing bowser. Firstly you can go back and get all the stars(all 120 of them) which then allowsx you to play as everyones favourite plumber brother Luigi through the whole game which is a completely different experience for you as he is faster and more likely to slip off stages so be careful. After you get all 120 stars with him you unlock star 121 which is the end of the game really and then there is nothing more you can do except complete about 11 more times or just go and listen to the music. Overall There really have been a lot of improvments over the years and nearly everything is better. The music is superb. The level design is super. Levles can vary when there are comets which can speed things up or time or only give you one life. It really is worth it. You will fall in love with this game. +Excellent levels +Gripping story +Music is great (classic and new music included) +Plenty to do in this game -Takes ages to finsh completely 96% This is the best of all the 3-D mario games there are and i really reccomend it. They clearly don't say "nintendo seal of QUALITY" for nothing in this game. Posted on 06 Feb 2009 by cp698 2 comments. Content Management Powered by CuteNews
