Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City

The city isn't as big as it used to be

Animal Crossing: Lets Go To The City
Nintendo
Nintendo Wii
Genre: Life Sim
Multiplayer: 2-4
Online Play: 2-4
Controls: Wii Remote(And Nunchuk) - vertical

Ah the next animal crossing game, looks pretty similar to me though...

Why? That’s because it is pretty much the same as the DS embarrassingly enough. The graphics are pretty much the same, just better resolution and shinier. They've used the same "Round World" format except unlike the DS version; there are cliffs - from the GameCube version. The audio is exactly the same as previous games. Basically this is a polished Animal Crossing: Wild World with a few new features.

Ok, maybe I know I'm being a bit negative so let's pretend that you haven't played the previous games, you'll have a great time. Animal Crossing sees you as a human entering the wild world of animal crossing, a village populated by smiley faced animals. The way you look is determined by the questions you answer at the beginning of the game, whilst throughout the game you can customize your hair and accessories and even give yourself a "Mii Makeover", al dente.

Whilst living in this town (which you effectively name as you say what your destination is - don't call your town something like peanut, you can't change it), you participate in a variety of different activities, fishing, bug catching, digging, selling and buying items, sending letters, etc. It's all great. There are all sorts of crazy characters in animal crossing; a greedy raccoon who owns the local shop, a nocturnal owl, designer hedgehogs and a few other crazy ditties. They all have distinct personalities that you will fall in love with, like the animal residents who live in your town, moving in and out. You meet loads of different animals throughout the game each of them leaving a mark on your soul.

The game is open-ended; there is no end to it, no black and white goal. The aim of the game is to have fun basically. You can do what you want. Paying your mortgage to upgrade your house and decorate it. Aim to complete the museum collection with bugs and fish. Talk to friends online with the new "Wii Speak" which sees you shouting at your TV like a berk.

Ah, now let's pretend you have played animal crossing before. It's a very different story for you, you get a very nasty case of "Déjà Vu" and "Did I just pay for the same game?” Yes the games are very similar and there isn't that much more for hardened fans.

The city is basically just an extension of the village, it a place for some more crazy animals, like Crazy Redd, the black market operator and Shampoodle, who jazzes up your hair and gives you that "Mii Makeover". Along with some other crazy faces, I won't spoil it all for you, but theres also a theatre and an auction room for awesome online-ness.

As for the online play... well same as before, except now with a little less limitations and with "Wii Speak" it makes it easier to communicate with friends.

So overall still a great game, for new players: amazing but to veterans: a little disappointing, but to those who don't get bored easily or want to keep things alive, you can transport your DS character to the big screen. Although in the end, when your sitting at home talking with "Wii Speak", you can't help but feel like an utter, berk.

Animal Crossing DS Review

Animal Crossing is a Game with a lot of playability, options and customisation.
I would reccomend the Wii version if you have the money and if you want a better online and offline experience which comes out December 5th 2008.

Advance Wars: Dark Conflict

A fantastic turn-based strategy that hasn’t changed much has made things a lot more balanced, has cool new features and not forgetting the online multiplayer.

Links Crossbow Training

A fun yet short-lived shooter. It doesn’t quite live up to price and the graphics were taken straight from Twilight princess, lazy.

42 All Time Classics

A good selection of games in a bargain package, but more appealing to elderly audience and the online multiplayer isn’t very well organized.
